Uncovering one’s unique talents and gaining confidence for life’s
larger
stage are the goals of our drama and public speaking programs. Drama
takes a variety of formats, from simple portrayals of stories to major
junior
high productions. Students in the Early Childhood Department through
elementary grades participate in holiday programs that are time-honored
traditions at Berkeley Hall. Drama classes are also offered through
our after-school program.
Junior high students study acting techniques, lighting, and
set design, through an Acting Showcase elective and,
each year, mount at least one major drama production.
Public speaking begins in the early grades with
on-stage participation in chapels and class programs.
Junior high students extend these experiences
through participation in the Optimist International
Oratorical Contest.
