The junior high experience highlights the independence, love of learning,
and
character development that are hallmarks of a Berkeley Hall education.
Challenging academics in a nurturing environment are the core of our program.
Student government, community service, campus responsibilities, community
meetings, and chapels provide rich opportunities for character education.
Junior high students have their own building in which they rotate among
classrooms
for English, math, science, social studies, and Spanish. A balance of
physical education,
arts, and technology electives, and a full interscholastic athletic program
gives students
a strong foundation for exploring individual interests and talents.
At the start of each year, seventh graders embark on a three-day trip
to study marine
biology and island ecology on Catalina Island. Eighth graders backpack
in the high
country of Yosemite to study geology and natural history. Students bond
and grow from
challenges encountered during these trips and return with greater self-confidence
and appreciation of their school “family”.
Berkeley Hall actively supports its students throughout the high school
application process. Our goal is to help families find the best match.
Our students are routinely accepted at a good spectrum of selective
independent high schools, and thrive as a result of their Berkeley
Hall foundation.
