The 2,000 square foot McMahan Library is a welcoming space where, on cold days, students can enjoy an award-winning book in front of a fire in the library’s fireplace. Our collection of 10,000 books includes an extensive selection of literature, non-fiction, and research materials, as well as a good multicultural and women’s collection.

Nursery through sixth grade visit the library weekly. Library classes for the lower grades begin with a story read by the librarian that is often connected with the curriculum. Students also learn library skills, including how to select an appropriate book, how to use the computerized card catalog, and how to care for books.

Intermediate grades participate in a Book Talks & Reading program in which they give individual talks about books they have read. They also practice library skills by pulling books for the kindergarten. Junior High students hold readings of original picture books that they have written and illustrated exclusively for our nursery to second grade students.
