Keeping all members of our community safe and providing an excellent learning experience for all our students are paramount. To that end, we continue to follow state and county COVID-19 guidelines and implement safety protocols and procedures that demonstrate our compassion and respect for each other. All members of the community have a specific role to play, as good stewards of their own health and wellness and that of other community members.
Our COVID-19 protocols for 2022-23 include:
-
Weekly testing for all K-8 students and employees, regardless of vaccination status
-
While mask wearing indoors or outdoors on campus is not required, it is strongly recommended as per the LACDPH. We do follow masking guidelines where close contact or exposure has occurred
-
Hand washing and other infection control procedures while at school
-
Adhering to quarantine requirements for those who test positive per LACDPH guidelines
-
Requiring all staff and employees to be fully vaccinated
-
Requiring all students 12 and older to be fully vaccinated. Medical and religious exemptions are available
Our detailed school policies and procedures can be found in the 2022-2023 Addendum to the Parent-Student Handbook. We will update these documents as specific COVID-19 safety protocols and conditions evolve.
Throughout the pandemic, BHS prioritized in-person learning as recommended by the California Department of Public Health and the Los Angeles County Department of Health. As part of our efforts to minimize the effect of COVID-19 on our school, we utilized our large classrooms, new technology, and extensive outdoor resources for learning and remained committed to providing a high quality education for all our students.
We are grateful for our community’s ongoing support and adaptability throughout the past two years. Our flexible approach, consistent effort, and hard work as a community helped us deliver an excellent education for our students. We continue to learn, listen, innovate, collaborate, and grow together.
Thank you for partnering with us in this important work.
Warmly,
Dr. Nikki Gamrath
Head of School
