The Camp Out

A beloved Berkeley Hall tradition, the Bobcat Family Camp Out brings our community together for an unforgettable night under the stars. Families gather on campus to share dinner, games, music, and s’mores, creating memories that last long after the tents come down. Camping overnight is optional and families can just stop by for the evening’s festivities. The Camp Out is an uplifting chance to make connections, enjoy a laugh with friends, and bask in the Berkeley Hall spirit.

Fall Festival

One of the most anticipated traditions of the season, the Halloween Parade and Fall Festival brings joy and excitement to campus! Our youngest students parade in their creative costumes before enjoying a morning of fall fun with a petting zoo, pumpkin patch, and seasonal activities. It’s a festive day filled with community spirit and celebration.

The Sugar Plum Program

Since 1939, the Sugar Plum Program has brought magic to Berkeley Hall’s holiday season. Each December, first to third graders enter a transformed Uhlman Performing Arts Center where sparkling trees are filled with handmade “plums".

These are colorful gift bags lovingly created by parent volunteers. Children perform seasonal songs that honor a variety of traditions, sharing joy and light with the whole community. It’s a moment of celebration and warmth and a perfect reflection of our values.

Eight Decades of Tradition: The Class Shield

One of Berkeley Hall’s most enduring traditions, the Class Shield dates back to 1944. It’s a creative project and capstone experience for our 8th graders. In the Shield Elective, students collaborate to design and build a coat of arms that reflects their class motto and identity. Along the way, they learn:

• 3D design, woodworking and engineering
• Teamwork, creative decision-making and problem solving
• Public speaking and presentation skills

The finished Shield is unveiled at the Shield Dance and formally presented to the school at the Shield Reveal Assembly before taking its place in our Hodges Theater. Visitors can view the work of 80+ years of graduating classes who have left their mark on our community.
