Burning Cheetos in 7th Grade Science

Ms. Stodden
"This is definitely a fun way to burn calories," chuckled one student in junior high science class. Students especially love learning about science when it involves burning things! They calculated the number of calories found in a Cheeto by setting it on fire and using the energy to heat water. A calorie is the energy required to heat one gram of water one degree Celsius. Students were amazed to see how much chemical energy is stored in the bonds of a Cheeto. Next time you can't get your campfire started, you might try throwing on a few Cheetos!
