2nd Grade Water Science

Over the past few weeks second graders have investigated water resources on our earth. They learned about salt and fresh water, and how there are a number of different fresh water resources used in our daily lives. In one activity, students learned how and from where Los Angeles gets its water. Teams of students collected water (in cups) from different water sources (buckets representing Owens River Valley, Mono Lake, California Wells, and the Colorado River) and raced back to fill their team's reservoir with their full cups of water. Needless to say, they enjoyed this activity and gained a better appreciation for how far water travels before it comes out the tap.
