Ms. Thorndike has been working at Berkeley Hall School for 9 years in many different capacities. She initially began as an Assistant Teacher for a year and then became an Associate Teacher in third grade for two years. To broaden her understanding and overall scope of Literacy across grade levels, she became the Literacy Specialist for Kindergarten through third grade for 3 years. She helped develop and implement the Reading and Writing units of study to best support the students’ learning. She returned to the classroom as a Co-Lead Teacher in 3rd grade for 2 years and now is Lead Teacher in 1st grade. Teaching has always been a passion of hers and she is grateful to call Berkeley Hall School her home away from home to pursue her dream and grow as an educator.

Why do I love teaching? I love teaching at Berkeley Hall because I love witnessing the growth my students make as fearless scholars and conscientious citizens. I am passionate in my commitment to nurturing and guiding my students to develop a love for learning, maximizing individual student performance through differentiated instruction, and maintaining a healthy and safe learning environment.
