Student's Treasure Goes to Charity

He's in 8th grade. He's been saving pennies in a treasure chest for 7 years – since 1st grade. And he chose to donate his treasure chest full of money to the Primary Student Council's "Pennies for Peace" drive. He is Max Nechita. Thank you Max for your big-hearted donation.

"Pennies for Peace" (P4P) is a program co-founded by Greg Mortenson "to educate children about the world beyond their experience and how they can make a positive impact on a global scale, one penny at a time."
The program helps school children in Afganistan and Pakistan and teaches our students the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope to others. A penny gives a child a pencil. A dollar keeps a child in school for a month.

The schools receiving aid support girls' education and curriculum that does not indoctrinate terrorism. Greg Mortenson, best-selling author ofThree Cups of Tea, spoke in Los Angeles and personally received donations from school children.

A Berkeley Hall donation of $100 dollars was delivered to Mr. Mortenson personally during his visit to Los Angels in February. The students look forward to announcing their grand total soon.
