Swim Team Places 3rd Overall in League Championship!

What a season for the Berkeley Hall Swim Team! Despite a shortened schedule, our swimmers managed their best finish in several years at the San Fernando Private School Championship Meet this past Tuesday, placing third overall. In addition, our boys’ team finished in second place!
The excitement began with the first event, where the boys 100 Medley Relay team of David Vayberman, Graham Kosich, Pranaya Singh, and Thomas Matthew touched out both Viewpoint and Buckley for the win. Pranaya Singh followed that with a win of his own in the 100 Individual Medley. Next, David Vayberman won the 25 Free with Graham Kosich touching 2nd and Thomas Matthew 4th. This gave Berkeley Hall the lead in the boys division after the first three events. With its large team, Viewpoint was eventually able to catch us, but our Bobcats continued to excel, with a blowout win in the 100 Free Relay (Graham Kosich, Thomas Matthew, Pranaya Singh, David Vayberman) and Top 8 finishes by Pranaya in the 25 Fly (2nd), David in the 25 back (2nd), Graham Kosich in the 25 Breaststroke (4th), Mark Lee in the 25 back (5th)  and 50 Free (6th), Stuart Karimi in the 25 Breaststroke (6th), Daniel Kotlyar in the 100 Free (6th), Ben Kvitko in the 100 Free (8th), and a 4th place finish in the 200 Free Relay (Daniel Kotlyar, Stuart Karimi, Keil Cumming, and Mark Lee). Our girls team contributed to the overall score with Top 8 finishes by Amber Peters in the 25 breaststroke (5th), Lauryn Chamberlain in the 50 Free (8th), Charlie Benson in the 25 Fly (8th), a 4th in the 100 Medley Relay (Julia Iwahori, Amber Peters, Arianna Leemann, Lauryn Chamberlain), and a 2nd place finish in the girls 100 Yard Freestyle Relay (Lauryn Chamberlain, Julia Iwahori, Arianna Leemann, Amber Peters). With a young core of dedicated swimmers, including fourth graders Leila Soleimani, Ameerah Grover, Banou Nazemi, Charlie Benson, and Julia Iwahori, the future looks bright! If there are any Bobcats with an interest in swimming, please come out next year. With a deeper team, we could have the chance to win the Championship for the first time ever!
