Mineral Hardness Test
Want to know what kind of mineral it is? Test for hardness. Like geologists, third graders tested minerals' hardness in order to identify them. Their tools were a paper clip, a penny, and their finger nails. By process of elimination, they were able to correctly identify four minerals, and put them in order of hardness.
