Mariage and Family Counselor Linnea Duvall
Yesterday, Berkeley Hall welcomed Linnea Duvall, Family and Marriage Counselor, as part of our 2014-15 school year Speaker Series. Ms. Duvall spoke with BHS parents about how best to navigate through their child’s “tween” years, and, more important, shared parenting techniques that early create a better relationship with your child as he or she grows to adulthood.
WHAT DO YOU WANT AS A PARENT?
- Do you want to raise a teen that becomes a competent, sturdy, fulfilled adult?
- Would you like that process to be less stressful and more rewarding?
- Would you like to understand how your teen’s brain works?
- Would you like to have realistic expectations and set realistic boundaries?
- And would you like your relationships –yours with your partner & yours with your teen - to thrive while Navigating Adolescence?
HERE’S HOW TO GET THAT!
- Learn how to set a consistent standard and example for your teen.
- Learn to listen to what your teen is saying and NOT saying, and learn how to give your teen a voice.
- Yes, they do have a brain! but it is still developing. Learn how to understand and best support that development.
- Learn the boundaries they absolutely need, the gradual progression of responsibility, and type of constant encouragement they need to thrive.
- Learn how to support, encourage and appreciate your own and each other’s parenting skills and styles.
RESULTS WE TARGET
- You’ll fall more in love with your teen.
- You’ll fall back in love with yourself.
- AND you’ll fall back in love, or stay in love with each other.
Adolescence is a Difficult Passage for the WHOLE FAMILY not just the teen.
Everything changes.
