BHS 7th Grader Wins 1st Place in Writing Contest

The Pacific Palisades Branch Library was booked and brimming with young authors last week, as the 2017 Children's Creative Writing Contest concluded with a live reading and awards ceremony. The competition, in its 27th year, was organized by the Friends of the Palisades Library in 1990 as a way to develop and encourage creative thinking and writing skills among young Palisades residents. Winners were announced in five age categories, from 1st-12th grade, as dozens of hopeful entrants waited to hear if their stories and poems would be read aloud by professional actors. BHS Bobcat Emma Lindgren, 7th Grade, represented Berkeley Hall well winning 1st Place for her poem Rainy Days. Emma and her family are so grateful to Berkeley Hall for their wonderful writing program which has nurtured her author within, and to all of the wonderful teachers at BHS who guide and support each student to find their own unique voice and express themselves through the written word.
