Difference Maker Ellie Laks of The Gentle Barn

Difference Maker Ellie Laks, Founder of the Gentle Barn, visited Berkeley Hall School for a presentation to our community as part of our Difference Makers Series.
Ellie  has always loved animals. As a young girl, she found them very healing as she faced the challenges of growing up – finding herself, fitting in, feeling understood. And that’s when she made it her goal to help others feel better about themselves and more accepting of others through the understanding that we’re all the same on the inside, no matter how different we are on the outside.

After studies in Special Ed and psychology, Ellie founded The Gentle Barn to fulfill her goal - to teach children kindness, compassion, and empathy for all living beings and our planet by interacting with animals. Ellie's been saving animals for 17 years and has helped thousands feel better about themselves and find healing through their interaction with the animals at The Gentle Barn.

After her presentation to the community, Ellie appeared as a guest on Berkeley Hall's Conversations program and shared some inspiring stories with host Lisa Taylor.
